Client onboarding: consistent, auditable checks across a whole network

Client
A large UK financial advice network (name withheld)
Sector
Wealth & advice
Scale
1m+ clients

Across one of the UK's largest financial advice networks, thousands of advisers bring on new clients every day, and every client has to be identity-checked and verified before any advice is given. We were brought in to deliver the system advisers use to do that, so onboarding is quick and consistent for the adviser and every check is handled the same auditable way across the whole network.

The challenge

Across one of the UK's largest financial advice networks, thousands of advisers bring on new clients every day. Before an adviser can give advice, each client has to be set up and checked, with the identity and anti-money-laundering verification (known as Know Your Customer, or KYC) that regulation requires. At the scale of a network serving well over a million clients, those checks have to be consistent, auditable and quick, and they have to happen inside the system advisers already use rather than sending them off somewhere else.

Our approach

We were brought in to deliver the system advisers use to bring their clients on board.

  1. Enter a client once. An adviser sets up a new client in one place, and the system takes care of the identity and KYC checks behind the scenes, so the adviser is not juggling separate tools or re-keying the same details.
  2. Everything stays in step with the network's records. The system connects to the network's main client-records platform, so a new client and their case stay consistent across onboarding and the wider back office, and central compliance sees the same picture the adviser does.
  3. Built for the busiest days, and to grow. The checks are built so the busiest parts can scale up on their own without slowing the rest down, and new checks or data sources can be added later without rebuilding the whole process.

The result

Advisers bring clients on board through one consistent, guided process, KYC is handled the same auditable way right across the network, and central compliance gets a dependable, traceable record of every client check, all inside the platform advisers already work in.
